These terms cover use of substationcapacity.com and the tools hosted on it, including the map, batch screening tool, and API. By using them, you agree to these terms. Email hello@substationcapacity.com with questions.
What this is
Substation Capacity aggregates and normalizes publicly available electric utility load-serving headroom data, published by utilities through their own ArcGIS feeds, into a searchable tool with historical trend detection.
No warranty on the underlying data
This is the important part. The capacity data comes from public utility sources we do not control. Some sources are more reliable than others. We label this with data quality tiers (A/B/C) inside the tool and flag known staleness or gaps where we know about them.
- We make no guarantee that any number shown is current, complete, or accurate.
- Utilities can change, correct, or stop publishing their source data without notice.
- Do not rely on this tool as your sole basis for a siting, investment, interconnection, or other decision with financial or engineering consequences. Confirm directly with the relevant utility before acting.
We are not liable for decisions made based on data from this tool.
Demo access
A limited public demo key is provided for evaluation. It is rate-limited and does not include Watch/Alerts or other account features. We may change or revoke demo access at any time without notice.
Batch screening and CSV uploads
If you upload a CSV of addresses, you are responsible for ensuring you have the right to submit that data. This includes confidential client lists or other data you are not authorized to process through a third-party tool. We use Geocodio to geocode addresses. See the Privacy Policy for details.
Acceptable use
Do not:
- Attempt to circumvent rate limits or demo-key restrictions.
- Scrape or bulk-extract the underlying dataset outside the intended API or tool usage.
- Resell raw data pulled from this tool as a standalone dataset without a separate agreement with us.
- Use the tool to violate any law or a utility's own terms of use for its public data.
Availability
We do not guarantee uptime, and the service may be modified, paused, or discontinued at any time.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms as the product evolves. Material changes will be noted with an updated date at the top.
